Intentional Living
Where Did 2017 Go?
“Time is going by too fast, this year has been a blur for me.”
I found myself saying this several times the last few months of 2017. We had a year full of exciting accomplishments, business launches and growth, but if I’m honest I’d have to admit that I felt tired, consumed with work, family life and home responsibilities many times throughout the year.
All GOOD things, nothing to complain about, but just busy day to day. I had been feeling overwhelmed, tired and D-O-N-E…anyone relate?
It wasn’t until I opened one specific Christmas gift this year that it hit me! My oldest daughter gifted my husband and I this lovely Google Photos Book titled “Adventures with Mimi and Lelo.” I opened the book and THERE IT WAS! My year…only this time it wasn’t a blur, it was in full color and on every page, a detailed memory.
“We made memories this year!” I said (literally sobbing).
As I looked over what seemed to be endless moments captured, it dawned on me that life happened even on my busiest days and the pictures proved to me that the time passed was not a blur to everyone (thank you, God).
Although I already knew this, 2017 served as a reminder to me that if we are not careful we miss out on how much of an impact our day-to-day plans or responsibilities may have on those that surround us.
It’s our default to go about life on auto-pilot mode, same thing day after day, milestones reached, goals completed & the hustle continues. Again, these are all good things, but what if this new year we PULL THE PLUG on the auto-pilot and refocus our hustle game to being intentional in the present? Right there, in the middle of our daily noise, but this time were intentionally present in the moment before us…with our loved ones that surround us and even with the strangers that come our way day after day?
I believe we were created to savor life to the fullest. To impact the ones we do life with by offering our love, our comfort and our attention. You see, life is going to happen all around us, whether we take it in or not.
This is my prayer for all of us in 2018, as the busyness comes crawling back in after the holidays…
That we be reminded not to be consumed by mundane tasks, that we leave room in our daily schedule for the magic of life to happen, that we take a moment each day to make even a small difference to someone else and if we have the chance to make a BIG difference that we are brave enough to take it.
I am so grateful for all the accomplishments made this year and I’m grateful for those that stood by my side in support, but I am especially grateful for the reminder of how much I am loved and that I may reciprocate that love in some way.
Wishing you all a BRAND NEW YEAR full of intentional moments captured and cherished.
Cheers to less auto-pilot and more #selahliving moments in #2018!
xo,
Cristina
